Sunday 25 November Coalpit Heath A v Bristol City

Result Coalpit Heath (2) 3 : Bristol City (1) 4

What a game!

The home side looked assured during an excellent first half. Jack Gallagher scored the opener with a quality finish after a great through ball from the midfield (1-0). City responded catching the Heath defence flat footed from a throw in to level (1-1). Coalpit regained the lead from a vicious inswinging corner from Matt Higgins that went straight in (2-1). A fine save from the city keeper denied Jack Gallagher & helped keep his side in match.

The home side continued to dominate after the break, forcing another important save from the City keeper. These saves proved vital as with the visitors first meaningful attack midway through the half they gained a free kick from which they levelled again (2-2).
Matt Higgins restored Coalpit's lead with stunning free kick into the top left corner (3-2). Yet the lead was short lived as visitors levelled within 60 seconds from a high punt from fully 35 yards out leaving the keeper with no chance (3-3). With 7 minutes to go a soft free kick was awarded on the right wing. The kick evaded all the on rushing players to nestle in the back of the home net to give the visitors the 3 points (3-4).

Luke Burman was man of the match after another inspired display against a particularly dangerous opponent.

Sunday November 11 Coalpit Heath A v Avon Athletic A

Result  - Coalpit Heath 2 (1) : Avon Athletic 2 (1)

Coalpit suprised fourth placed Avon when they took an early lead when Jacob Williams finished off good work from Jack Gallagher. The lead lasted barely 60 seconds when Avon levelled. Avon missed a late first half penalty with both sides settling with the 1-1 score line. Avon Started the second half the quicker scoring with a sharp break. Coalpit slowly took control and eventually scored a deserved equaliser. Great work by Matt Higgins as he squared the ball to Jack Gallagher who scored well at the back post. A valuable point gained by the home side and ground lost on the leaders for Avon. A good match played in a good spirit.

Sunday November 4 Stoke Lane v Coalpit Heath A

Result - Stoke Lane 3 : Coalpit Heath 0

In a tight first half, the home side took the lead from a harsh 20th minute penalty. Despite good second half pressure from the visitors they didn't seriously test the Stoke Lane keeper. With 9 minutes remaining the game was settled for the home side when a great finish from 15 yards finished a gallant second half display from Heath. A third goal in injury time gave a flattering score line to an exiting & closely fought match. Well played both teams.
